Nature knows better. Left to its own instincts, winter is a season of slowing, turning inward, and gathering strength.
Modern life doesn’t quite get the memo. The lights stay on, the emails keep coming, the pace doesn't drop, holidays get reserved for warmer days. If anything, winter asks more of us, not less. Hustle culture tells us to keep moving, and we rarely get a chance to stop.
This retreat is a chance to borrow winter's instinct back — not to disappear into stillness, but to step off the conveyor belt for a few days and recalibrate.
Here, the rhythm changes. Mornings and evenings are shaped by movement practice, built to wake the body and build real heat. What happens in between is up to you: mountain air, fireside reading, slow four-course meals, and plenty of sauna–cold plunge–repeat. A recipe for restoration.
This retreat isn't about becoming someone new. It's about returning to yourself — with enough fire still lit to bring back with you.
Cost:
The retreat price starts from €1,420 per person **Rates are LIVE based on availability, so the sooner you book the more affordable it is.
Note, the default is double occupancy, but you can choose single occupancy, or there are larger rooms available to share a room with a friend [or 3!].
Meals are then added separately under ‘add on’, with two options:
Half Board — $40 per day: Breakfast & dinner

Location:
Hotel Schwarzschmied in the South Tyrolean valley, surrounded by vineyards, orchards, and the foothills of the Alps. It’s a landscape that feels open and unhurried. Mornings begin with soft light over the mountains, mist lifting slowly from the valley, and a sense of the day arriving in its own time. The hotel sits quietly within this setting — warm, minimal interiors, natural materials, and wide views that draw you outward.
There’s a calmness to the space that makes it easy to land, to slow down, and to settle into a different rhythm.
Step outside and you’re immediately in nature. Vineyards, walking paths, and small village roads stretch out in every direction, inviting gentle movement and time outdoors.
A place that holds you lightly, and lets the pace of the landscape shape your days.
Your Instructors:
-
Jaime is the Founder of Basic Space and The Yoga Library. With 8 years and 3000+ hours of experience teaching, Jaime has developed the knowledge and confidence to create and lead beautiful, well-designed classes and retreats. Always set to a consciously curated, ‘groovy’ playlist, Jaime’s classes combine fluid movement with static core-driven holds. She teaches an open-level class, welcoming beginners whilst offering an extra hand if needed, and suggesting adaptations as well as inversions for more advanced students should they wish to explore further. Her classes explore the line between effort and ease. Jaime teaches based on feel - drawing from energy, beings, seasons… She’s influenced by many different modalities of yoga and movement. Jaime quite literally ‘goes with the flow’. She encourages self-exploration and self-guidance on the mat.
-
Ellen teaches fluid Vinyasa classes combining strength and stillness, traditional asanas and playful elements. Breath is at the heart of her practice, guiding each movement. Her classes begin gently, build in energy and intensity, and finish with deep rest. Through music and a supportive atmosphere, Ellen creates a space for self-care, ease and joy, encouraging everyone to move at their own pace and enjoy their time on the mat.
Food:
Food at Schwarzschmied is seasonal, farm-to-table, and rooted in the rhythms of the region. At La Fucina, the menu follows what’s fresh and available locally, with a simple, honest approach to cooking.
Breakfast is slow and abundant, with a generous buffet of fresh bread, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, and warm options to ease into the day at your own pace.
Lunch is light and unfussy — fresh salads, vegetables, grains, and simple warm dishes that keep you nourished without feeling heavy.
Dinner is a daily changing four-course menu, shaped by the season and local produce, with thoughtful, balanced dishes that reflect the landscape around us.
It’s food that’s grounded in place, seasonal in rhythm, and easy to enjoy.
Sample Schedule
We like to keep the actual schedule open to account for energies and weather, but your days are centred around community and practice.
You'll notice the itineray begins late Friday evening: while hotel check-in opens at 4 pm, the suggested flight doesn't land in Bolzano until 8:15 pm, so the retreat officially kicks off Saturday morning, with our first movement practice.
If you plan on arriving earlier on Friday, you're welcome to settle in at your own pace and can let us know if you need help with dinner reservations. There will be welcome drinks and a small bite at 9:15 pm for the late arrivals, so there's still a chance to meet everyone Friday night.

Getting There
For those travelling from London on Friday 5 February, we recommend the direct flight on Friday, departing at 4:55 pm and arriving in Bolzano at 8:15 pm.
We’re happy to arrange a transfer from Bolzano Airport for an additional fee.
Flights to Verona are more frequent and can potentially offer a wider range of options. From Verona, you can take the scenic train journey north through the mountains to Lana, changing there for Bolzano.
