The Practice of Teaching: Basic Space 30hr Training
A four-day immersion for teachers—new or experienced—who want to refine their voice, reconnect with their why, strengthen their personal brand, and build a sustainable career in the yoga space.
This training reflects everything we look for at Basic Space: teachers who teach with authenticity and warmth, include every body, move with integrity and intention, and express their own voice. Everything is called “Yoga” at Basic Space so teachers can do what they do best—without boxes or labels.
We focus on intention behind craft and honesty over performance, guided by the belief that how you do one thing is how you do everything. This training is about teaching with care, skill, and attention, so your classes land clearly, as well as offering an honest look at the business of yoga and what it takes to build a sustainable teaching career.

Your Instructors
A dedicated practitioner for over a decade, Jaime has explored Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Rocket, and Yin Yoga, completing corresponding trainings across these styles and is currently completing her Katonah Yoga training. Teaching for nearly 10 years and with more than 5000 hours of experience, she has developed the skill, clarity, and confidence to create and lead well-designed, intentional classes.
Jaime previously served as Head of Yoga at a leading boutique studio in Kensington before moving to Los Angeles, where she taught extensively while building an international teaching career. She has led over 10 retreats and brings first-hand experience of creating sustainable work across two major cities. During the pandemic, she founded The Yoga Library, now Basic Space at Home, before returning to London in 2021 to open Basic Space, now two thriving studios in Stockwell and Camberwell.
Her classes are guided by feel and set to consciously curated playlists, blending fluid movement with moments of static, core-driven work. She teaches open-level classes that welcome beginners while offering depth and optional progressions for more experienced practitioners. Her classes explore the line between effort and ease. Jaime teaches based on feel - drawing from energy, beings, seasons… She’s influenced by many different modalities of yoga and movement. Jaime quite literally ‘goes with the flow’. She encourages self-exploration and self-guidance on the mat.
Jaime Hepburn, Founder of Basic Space
Jess has been teaching yoga for seven years, building a practice and approach that combines experience, understanding, and thoughtful guidance. Over the years she has worked with a wide range of students across London, private clients, corporate groups, and has led multiple international retreats, gaining the insight and confidence to lead classes with intention. Also a Lululemon ambassador for two years, Jess has worked within community-driven and professional wellness spaces alongside her studio teaching.
The experience that shaped her most came early on, when she volunteered with Blind Aid, assisting and later leading weekly courses for blind or partially sighted students. Teaching without visual demonstration transformed her approach, sharpening her ability to cue with precision and create safety through language alone, and reinforcing her belief that guidance comes from offering clear tools rather than vague instruction.
Jess was part of the founding teaching team at Basic Space and began working closely with Jaime as the studio took off. As Basic Space grew, so did her role supporting Jaime with the wider vision. Now acting Director, she has been pivotal in the studio’s expansion into its second site and plays a lead role in shaping and supporting the teaching team.
Her teaching has evolved alongside her confidence, becoming slower, more spacious, and more intentional. Guided primarily by voice rather than demonstration, her classes encourage curiosity, self-discovery, and trust in the body, moving beyond achievement-based movement and allowing students to explore at their own pace.
Jess Hearn, Studio Director at Basic Space
“Jaime and Jess’ guidance goes far beyond technique - they inspire confidence, mindfulness, and authenticity in every student. Their teaching style is thoughtful, supportive, and deeply encouraging, creating a safe space to grow both as a practitioner and as a teacher. Through their mentorship, I have gained not only practical skills but also the clarity and confidence to share yoga with others in a way that feels truly authentic to me.”

Absolutely! We get it. 200 hr trainings alone don’t often leave us with the confidence to teach in studios. Our training will help foster that confidence, giving you the opportunity to teach with honest feedback throughout. Our modules will also leave you with the knowledge to take that first leap.
-
YES! Many experienced teachers have great ideas but aren’t sure how to bring them to life, whether that’s big ticket events or passive income, and many full-time teachers can’t figure out how to make teaching sustainable so they don’t burn out.
-
Absolutely. We want to make this training accessible, so please do email us and we can figure out a plan that works for both!
